Repairability Index
What is the Repairability Index?
The repairability index is a score out of 10 assigned to certain electronic products, such as smartphones, to evaluate how easily they can be repaired. Its purpose is to inform consumers and promote more sustainable practices by reducing electronic waste.
The score is calculated based on several criteria, including:
1. Technical documentation: Availability of repair guides.
2. Ease of disassembly: How easy it is to take the product apart and the tools required.
3. Availability of spare parts: How long spare parts are available and how quickly they can be delivered.
4. Cost of spare parts: Price of spare parts compared to the cost of a new product.
5. Specific criteria: Additional criteria tailored to each product category.
Since January 1, 2021, in France, it is mandatory for resellers to provide this index to consumers when selling products that fall under the regulation.

Your Responsibilities as a Reseller
As a reseller, you are required to:
1. Clearly display the repairability index near each relevant product, whether in-store or on your e-commerce website.
2. Ensure this information is visible to consumers before they complete a purchase.
The index must be accompanied by a specific logo and, ideally, a link or documentation explaining the evaluation criteria.
